| Once the heat has come down, I like to contemplate the pursuit of form, the yearning for natural scenery and the admiration of that scenery ? the emphasis on physical presence that one finds in the landscape paintings of the Sung Dynasty artist Fan Kfuan. Strolling through a mountain village provides a contrast to this ? mountains, trees, rocks, people returning home, boats on the river. Through the luster, flow, changes in coloration, contrasting textures and tension of the glass, every scene creates a deep sense of spiritual repose. |
